Why Cochran?
I have known Annie McLhinney-Cochran professionally for around 30 years, when she was employed as a Public Affairs Officer, Americas & Europe, with Air New Zealand in Los Angeles. I was employed, long-term, by the New Zealand Trade and Tourism Offices, as Publicity Manager for North America. Annie was highly efficient in her role involving our joint organization of press trips to New Zealand for leading American travel/airline editors, TV and film crews, etc. - exhibiting excellent people and social skills when often dealing with demanding and exacting media personalities.
Her organizational skills in drawing up itineraries, making flight arrangements, hotel bookings, special media request, and meeting client needs were impeccable, contributing to our obtaining widespread favorable publicity for Air New Zealand and New Zealand as a tourism/trade destination throughout the USA and Canada.
I later encountered Annie on the other side of the fence, in my role as a freelance photo/journalist when, as Public Relations Consultant for the City of Carlsbad Convention & Visitors Bureau, she organized a media trip for me which resulted in a major illustrated feature story in Travel Holiday Magazine.
While we have not worked closely in recent years, since my return to New Zealand, I have continued to hear favorable reports about Annie's professionalism from mutual colleagues.
